This blog is a way to celebrate my grandmother, stay connected to my family (which is another wonderful way of celebrating what my grandma cared most about), celebrate your grandmothers and loved ones, share picture and recipes that we love, and generally talk about the people, traditions and foods that we treasure. My grandmother was at her happiest a hostess, cooking and creating spaces for people to relax. This is something I proudly share with her.

The SOURCE and INSPIRATION
My grandmother, Margie Mishel Lantos, passed away about a month ago. While cleaning out her house, my uncle Tom Lantos found a box of her recipes that he immediately showed to my sisters and me. Many of the recipes were dishes we'd eaten, or heard of, but there is also a treasure trove of undiscovered, 50s-housewife, assimilated Jew, type recipes in there. My uncle suggested that we cook them weekly, over the next year, and share the pictures and recipes with each other. Jewish tradition also requires 12 months of mourning for a deceased parent- and this felt like a special way of honoring that practice.

I hope you enjoy. Please feel free to take recipes, post ideas, and share thoughts and ideas that come up for you.
